Celebrating National Women’s Small Business Month: My Journey with Neatly by Kristen

October is National Women’s Small Business Month, and as a woman entrepreneur, it’s the perfect time to reflect on my journey. I launched Neatly by Kristen earlier this year after taking a career pause to focus on family.

Prior to this, I spent over 18 years working in NYC tech startups, gaining invaluable experience in building businesses.  I always dreamed of starting my own—someday. Well, that “someday” finally arrived!

But, why professional home organizing?!  Organization has always been second nature to me. From a young age, I was obsessed with organizing everything—my clothes, my books, and even my cassette tapes.  As an adult, I continued to find peace and ‘flow state’ in organizing my home and helping friends and family who struggled with the task. That’s when I thought—why not turn my passion into a business?

Starting Neatly by Kristen has been both exciting and rewarding. Like many small business owners, I wear multiple hats—founder, marketer, sales person, organizer, and more. Balancing family life with business isn’t always easy, but I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family and friends, who are my biggest cheerleaders. Nothing compares to seeing the transformation in my clients' homes and the joy and relief on their faces when everything is neatly organized. That’s what makes it all worthwhile!

At Neatly by Kristen, I specialize in helping busy parents organize their homes and simplify their lives. Whether it’s setting up organization systems from day one in a new space or helping regain control of a chaotic home, I understand the overwhelm that comes with balancing work, family, and home. I’m passionate about helping families find calm in the chaos through effective organization.

One of the best parts of this journey has been connecting with other inspiring women entrepreneurs. The support and community I’ve found have been invaluable. As we celebrate National Women’s Small Business Month, I encourage you to support women-owned businesses—not just in October, but all year long.  Seek out and shop at women-owned businesses, and when you find one you love, spread the word and help lift them up!
